Sliding-jaw wrenches. -Relates to adjustable spanners in which the adjustment of the movable member embracing the handle of the fixed member is effected by a slide or the like, movable in grooves in the two members extending obliquely relatively to the direction of movement of the slide. The shank c of the fixed jaw a is formed with a shallow transverse groove g; and the adjustable jaw b has a slot h in one side only, the angle between the groove and slot being smaller than the angle of friction. The adjusting-pin i projects through one side only of the movable member.
