Abstract

14,584. Mayer, R. June 16. Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-The injection of the working fuel is preceded by that of a highly combustible igniting-fuel. The igniting- fuel pocket 1 is separated from the working- fuel pocket 2 by a valve 5 opened, by a pin 8 striking a guide 6, after the valve 4 has been opened. The seating of the valve 5 is a continuation of that of the valve 4. Compressed air in the channel 11 exerts pressure on both the fuels. In a modification, the two valves 4, 5 are rigidly formed on the same spindle, and there is no direct connexion between the air and ignition fuel-pockets. An overflow passage is provided between the ignition and working fuel chambers to prevent damage to the pumps.
