Cooking-stoves; hot-plates.-Beneath a hotplate a having central and surrounding apertures b, a shallow casing is provided into which a central gas or oil burner g projects, so that hot gases are directed under any or all of the outer apertures and thence escape, The casing comprises chambers d connected by channels e, the aperture f through which the burner projects being sufficiently large to admit the necessary air. Holes l to admit additional air are formed in the walls of the chambers d. Studs c are provided wholly or partly surrounding the outer apertures to raise the vessels over them and permit the escape of the hot gases. Dampers may be placed in the channels; and hinged or detachable covers may be provided to the apertures.
