Locking nuts.- In s p l i t helical w a s h e r s having teeth on the surfaces, the teeth are given the form of alternate ridges 7 and depressions 8, Fig. 1, each ridge or depression forming one complete turn of a helix. The washer is formed by coiling a bar the surfaces of which have inclined straight ribs; or a more complex system of ridges and depressions may be used, as shown in Fig. 5. The inner and outer edges of the washer are rounded off to a convex shape.
