Cylinders receiving liquid fuel.-A spindleshaped valve d controls the mixing and quantity of fuel and air admitted to the cylinder. The spindle, which may be actuated by a cam, forms with a movable sleeve b and a fixed sleeve c an air channel which has two narrow passages at f, h. Mixing takes place at the passage f to which fuel is fed by a pump through the passage k when the valve g at the lower end of the sleeve b is raised. When the valve g is closed, fuel is returned by the passage k<1>. The amount of mixture admitted to the cylinder is controlled by the valve h. To prevent the formation of drops the wall of the sleeve or the spindle should not have edges.
