8633. Cowell, J. April 9. Razors, safety. The blade d of a safety razor is carried between a guard-plate k having turned-up ends l, and a back-plate g formed with projecting spring tongues wand side tongues h. The guard-plate k and back plate g are carried by arms b, c pivoted together at e and normally tending to spring apart and release the blade under the influence of a spring f, but adapted to be pressed together to secure the blade by inserting the connecting - portion into an hexagonal or other shaped handle a. The arm b may have a small knob or projection formed on it to engage in a notch formed in one of the faces of the handle indicated by a mark t, or any other suitable catch device may be employed. A holder for stropping the blades is provided consisting of side cheeks m engaging the backs of the blades and an hexagonal basepiece n fitting in the ends of the handle a. In modifications, the frame may be adapted to carry thin blades; the arms b, c may be made of spring material; instead of the spring tongues w a spring may be inserted between the back of the blade and the back-plate g; the back-plate g may extend over the blade to any required distance.
