To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK C. Gennari, a citizen of the United States, residing at Room 1247 Marquette Building, Chicago, in the county of Cook and State oi' Illinois7 have invented a new and uset'ul Razer-Blade Holder, of which the following is a specification. l y

My invention relates to razor-blade holders of the 'type primarily intended for securing therein the thin blades of safety razors, for the purpose of stropping them.

My present invention is in the nature of an improvement on the construction of holder shown, described and claimed in United States Patent N o. 915,024 granted on my application, March 9, 1909, and my object is to provide certain changes in the construction to adapt it more perfectly, and render it more desirable, for its purpose.

In the accompanying drawing Figurel is a plan view of my improved holder showing a razor-blade clamped therein; Fig. 2 isan elevation, or edge View of the same, and Figs. 3, 4 and 5 are enlarged views in transverse section, taken respectively at the lines 3, 4 and 5, Fig. 1.

In constructing my device prefer to form the holder proper from a single strip of stamped spring-steel. This strip is so shaped and proportioned as to provide, when bent intermediate its ends, a handle 10 having sides slightly convex in cross-section, and two flat opposing clamping-members 1l and 12. In this manner a handle 10 is provided comprising two corresponding sections 13 of a shape particularly well adapt ed for convenience in stropping. The meniber 11 has two projections 14 which are ,struck up and register when'in clamped condition, with holes 15 of practically corresponding diameter which are punched in the member 12, Fie. 3. well, a bearing for the holder, on this strop. It will, of course, be understood that the projections 14 are spaced a proper distance apart and are of a size to register with and fit the holes in blades of safety razors now on the market.

opposite ends of the holder is an abutment 19 in the nature of a stud, rigidly secured to one of the handle-sections 13, and which vaffords a pivot for a clamping-lever or latch 20. rEhe stud is formed with a reduced end which passes through holes in the section 13 and one end of the latch 20, and with a shoulder 21 which bears against the inner surface ot' the handle-section, and the end ot the stud is upset or headed to hold the 1 parts assembled.. Theopposite end of the lever is provided with a hook 22 extending at right-angles to 4itsshanlrfportion and is curved outwardly as represented in Fig. 5 to provide a slightiy contracted throat 23, to draw the sections together as the latch is swung to embrace them.

By providing the abutment 19 it shortens the leverage or' the sections 13, and thereby increases the pressure exerted by them upon the blade when they are clamped together by the latch 20. Moreover the abutmentstiens the handle so that it presents a firm body to the grip o the hand during theact of stropping. W hat l claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. A device for holding razonblades in stropping, comprising two resilient handlesections and companion razor-blade clampu ing-members, an abutment on one oi sardehandle-sections betweenv said clamping members and the end of said sections and engaging the other handle-section when the parts are clamped together, and means for releasably clamping said handle-sections together between said abutment and clampingmembers.

2.. device for holding razor-blades in stropping, comprising two resilient handlesections and companion razor-blade clamping-members, an abut-1nent-forming stud on one of said handle-sections engaging the other handle-section when the parts are clamped together, and a latch pivoted to one of said handlersections and provided with a hook having a contracted throat, for releasably clamping the handle-sections together between said abutment and clamping-members.

3.
