8163. Baker, H. V. April 5. Folding vehicles.-A folding perambulafor of the type in which the wheel supports are adapted to fold inwardly, is so arranged that the ocupant faces the propelling-handle. To the frame C are pivoted at one end the seat frame, at the other end the propelling-handle e, and between them a U-shaped member B which supports the side rails d of the seat and serves to retain in the unfolded position the side springs A carrying the wheels. Pivoted struts F connect brackets h on the lower part of the member B to similar brackets on the handle e, so that, when the handle is folded, the member B and the seat frame are also folded. To avoid a dead-centre action between the struts F and the member B in the initial stage of the unfolding, a fitting may be secured to each side of the frame C at k so as to form a fulcrum for the corresponding strut F. The wheels may be folded automatically under the body by means such as are described in Specification 24,233/09, and the arrangement of the folding seat parts may be as described in Specification 18,555/08.
