Printing on soap; inking-apparatus.-A device for printing on bars of soap &c. comprises two vertical printing-rollers A, A', which are adjustably mounted to accommodate bars of different thickness. The roller A is driven by bevel-gearing C from the main shaft D, while the roller A' is driven from the roller A by adjustable gear-wheels F. The soap N is conveyed between guides P by projections M' on an endless chain M passing around a sprocket wheel L<1> on a shaft L driven by a shaft H and bevel gear G<1>, J, from the shaft D. The rollers A, A<1> are carried by plates Q, Q', which are pivoted at S to allow of adjustment of the rollers to and from one another. The inking- apparatus, comprising two inkers T, a distributing drum V, oscillating duct rollers 1, 2 and duct W, is carried on the pivoted plates Q, Q', so as to be always in correct relation to the printing-rollers A, A'. Brushes may be provided to prevent clogging of the printing-surfaces.
