2181. Lucas, P. Jan. 28. Incandescent gas burners. - In inverted incandescent gas burners of the type in which gas from a pipe 2 mixes with a small quantity of air from pipes 5 and passes through the mixing-tube 3 to a chamber 6 and burner head 7 comprising a number of tubes 8 spread over a large area, and in which the burner is mounted in a casing having a chimney wider than the burner head, so that the resulting suction draws the required additional air through pipes 11 into a chamber 10 and through the spaces between the tubes 8 to the flame, the chamber 10 is restricted at the point where it terminates flush with the bottom of the burner tubes 8 to enable long depending mantles to be rendered incandescent throughout their length.
