Abstract

704. Martin, H., and Martin, T. Jan. 11. Draught excluders &c.-A batten f is pressed down on the floor, when the door is closed, by the engagement of the projecting end c<2> of a sliding rod c with the door-post, and is raised when the door is opened, by a spring h. The sliding rod c and batten f are connected by links d, slotted centrally at d<3> to engage pins a<1> on the door, the slots d<3> being curved in opposite directions. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, the batten f is pressed down by the interengagement of inclined surfaces m, n, the rod c being constrained to move horizontally by means of pins f<4> and slots f<3>, and the batten f vertically by means of pins f<2> and slots f<1>. In a further modification, shown in Fig. 6, the inclines m, n are formed by plates m<1>, n', attached to the rod c and batten f. The spring h is mounted in the groove in which the rod c slides.
