29,342. Fairweather, W., [Chicago Vacuum Jar Co.]. Dec. 15. Venting - apparatus.-Relates to a venting- device for vacuum jar and like closures. A stud 4, Fig. 4, of rubber &c. occupies a conical or cylindrical hole 10 in the cover 2 but is loose enough to allow the air to escape during exhaustion. It afterwards prevents the entrance of air as shown in Fig. 2, a pin 9 being inserted in a hole 8 in the stud so as to expand it.
