Abstract
25,796. Greenwood, W., Hall, D., Hilton, C., and Kay, J. H. Nov. 9. Waste, collecting and removing.-To reduce the power required to drive the fan in suction devices for collecting and removing broken ends in spinning and like frames, the suction nozzles D are each normally closed by a hinged flap F, which is held up by the tension of the intact thread S, and is released by the breaking of the thread. The nozzle is arranged near the path of the thread from the delivery rollers T, T<1> to the spindle, and is provided with an extension E, which may be clamped in adjusted position by a screw I, preferably placed at the bottom of the nozzle. The flap F is hinged to the nozzle or the extension at F<1>, and is provided with an arm G which carries loosely a thread wire G<1>. The series of nozzles D open into a pipe C having pipes B in communication with a pipe A, which leads at one end of the frame into a down-pipe M; this communicates with a chamber N, which is provided with a fan O and a receiving-chamber P having perforated sides. The pipes are provided with dampers for maintaining an even draught.
