Abstract

7640. Zschocke, H. March 27. Filtering.-In a filter provided with filtering- tubes b of metallic cloth which are cleaned periodically by a reverse current of compressed gas, the compressed gas is delivered through rotating tubes provided with nozzles h throughout its length, the gas to be filtered being cut off meanwhile. The filter is preferably divided into cells l, each of which contains one or more tubes, and each cell is adapted to be cut off from the inlet duct d and put into communication with a settling-chamber o automatically during the cleaning. As shown, the isolation of the cell to be cleaned, the control of the compressed gas supply, and the periodic rotation of the cleaning-nozzles, are all effected by the movement of an endless chain f. To this end, tappets r carried by the chain rotate star-wheels and thereby open flaps or dampers m, p between the cell and the inlet duct and settling-chamber respectively, the flaps being connected by an endless chain so that one closes as the other opens; catches i on the chain open and close cocks k which control the supply of compressed' gas to the nozzles; and projecting teeth g on the chain engage pinions v on the nozzle spindles. Simultaneous action on all the tubes of each cell is secured by means of endless chains t and connecting-pipes u. More than one pair of tappets rand catches, i may be provided.
