Abstract
20,652. Fraser, W. Sept. 10. Filtering.-In the automatic cleaning of the filter bags of vacuum cleaning and other apparatus by means of brushes, relative movement between the bags and brushes is obtained from a turbine-wheel driven by the current of air or gas that is being cleaned, the turbinewheel being connected through reducing-gear either to the bags or to the brushes. In the form shown, a stationary filter consisting of fabric c stretched over a perforated cylinder is suspended in a depositing-chamber a having a dust-laden air inlet c and an inspection plate b. The purified air issuing through a nozzle f drives a turbine-wheel h connected through reducing-gear l, m, m, o, p, q to a brush g carried by an internally-threaded ring s mounted upon ball bearings upon an annular ledge of the chamber. The turbine-wheel may be mounted so that it is driven by the incoming dust-laden air. The wheel and gear are preferably protected by a reticulated cover v.
