Abstract

24,341. Trigwell, J. R. Oct. 23. Tread bands; tyre attachments to rims.- Creeping non-skid and like covers d are provided at their edges with hooks e bent so as to extend beyond the wheel rim without contact therewith and engage flanged rings f, which are held at the sides of the wheel by clips. Each clip comprises a pair of lugs g, preferably forked as shown, plates g<3> held in proper relation to the lugs by distance-pieces and projections g<4>, and a bolt passing through the lugs and a distance-piece g<6> within the felloes. The lugs are grooved to receive the flanges f<*> of the rings f, which are free to slide therein. The inner rings fare lapjointed and hinged; and in some cases both rings f are in two concentric parts held together by engagement with the hooks e, which are suitably shaped for the purpose. The hooks may be provided with leather &c. insets to bear on the rim. The covers may have circumferential slits to make them more yielding.
