Bedsteads convertible i n t o seats &c. - A combined chair, bedstead, table, and stretcher comprises four frames e, f, g, h hinged together at b, c, and d, suitably upholstered, and provided with hinged pairs of legs i, k at the ends and a slightly longer pair l at the middle. The structure is shown in use as a bed in Fig. 1 ; in order to convert it into a stretcher the legs l are folded up, and the legs i, k turned so as to extend outwards to form the handles of the stretcher, an awning o, p being supported above the stretcher on a frame. Fig. 3 shows the device as a table, the ends e, h being turned down, and a folding top q placed on the parts f, g. When required for use as a chair, the parts are inclined at an angle, as shown in Fig. 5, and retained in that position by stays consisting of hinged sectors 1 having holes adapted to engage a pin 2, or the stay may consist of a toothed sector fixed to one part of the frame and engaged by a spring pawl on the other part. The part p of the stretcher awning may also be used as an awning for the chair. The frame when folded may be enclosed in the folding top and the canvas o, p for transport.
