[Class 52 (ii)] A folding bed convertible into a chair has each side formed of three longitudinal members 1, 2, 3 pivoted to one another end to end so that when folded one lies adjacent to and on each side of the centre member, the pivotal points supporting legs of equal length. As shown in Fig. 1 for use as a bed the side members are hinged together by pivots 4, 5 which also carry pivoted legs 6, 7 adapted to be locked in the extended position by links 8, 9 pivoted to the frame element 2 at 10 and having notches engaging pins 11, 12 on the legs. The outer frame elements 1, 3 have pivoted feet 16, 19 held in position by similar links 17, 21. The legs on opposite sides of the bed are connected by pairs of toggle links 13, 14, 18 whereby the side frames may be collapsed upon one another. The legs 6, 7, 16, 19 and links 8, 9, 17, 21 are then folded into the plane of the frame elements and these elements folded together into a bundle. The frames on each side are connected by a sheet of canvas 27 having eyelets engaging pins 15. To form a chair, Fig. 2, the frame element 3 is turned up to form a back rest held adjustably by a link 22 with notches 23 adapted to engage a pin 24 on the frame element 2. The legs 19 are turned to a position above the frame 3 and held by notches 25 in the link 21 to form an angularly adjustable canopy. For a deck chair the leg 16 is collapsed and the part 1 allowed to drop into an inclined position. For a camp chair the parts 1, 16, 17 are folded together and turned to lie in the plane of the part 2.
