Abstract

19,933. Savery, T. A., and Savery, W. E., [trading as Savery & Co., T. A.]. Aug. 31. Spray burners; burners, regulating.-In liquidfuel firing-systems for steam-generating purposes, especially for steam launches and other craft, air from a compressor driven by the main engine is used for normal working, with steam from the boiler as an auxiliary for temporary stoppages of the engine, together with meads for automatically regulating the auxiliary steam supply. The regulating-device is shown in Fig. 3. A diaphragm n is subjected to the air pressure, and carries a stem u provided with a valve t controlling the steam supply. A plate v is provided to prevent the blowing out of condensed water into the pipe l<1>. Adjustment is provided by means of the screwed stems u, w, a spring x, and a nut z. The valve t may be operated by hand by means of a handle 2 and a screwed boss 3 engaging a screwed part of the frame y and abutting on the collar 4. A supplementary steam supply may be admitted to the burners when the engine is running at the maximum power output, by a regulator controlled by hand or automatically.
