Abstract

19,128. Hayes. J. A. J. Aug. 20. Inking-apparatus.-An ink or colour duct is formed by a ductor roll and a number of independently adjustable closely-fitting blades or sections. In one form, Fig. 5, each blade section a has a dovetail rib at the back fitting into a corresponding groove in the base c, and has also a lug a<4> engaging the screw d by which the section is adjusted. A groove a<5> in each of the sections is formed for use with a straight-edge in getting all the blades into exact alinement. Several sections may be fixed together for simultaneous adjustment by one screw, or several screws may be geared together, or a single wide section may be used to replace several smaller sections if desired. The base c may be adjustable on the frame bar g. In a modification, Fig. 11, the sections a are springy, and are adjusted by a screw h.
