Aerial machines without aerostats; planes, construction and arrangement of; cars; framework; p a r a c h u t e s.-An aerial machine is built up of hoops, the body a being formed of hoops c connected by ribs b, and the planes being constructed of one or more hoops m, as shown in plan in Fig. 2. As shown in Fig. 7, the hoops c are of irregular shape and are connected by the bars b. Instead of the planes m being formed from horizontal hoops a series of vertically-arranged hoops c, Fig. 5, may be connected by bars b, the hoops being entirely covered with material. The bodies of the machines are also partly covered with material. A parachute w mounted in a ball-and-socket joint, is arranged on the machine shown in Fig. 7. According to the Provisional Specification, the body of the machine may be spherical. Propelling, steering, and balancing.-One or more motors drive screws h, any of which may be unclutched or turned in different directions for steering. Steering and balancing are also effected by means of a tail plane k, which is rotated about a longitudinal axis, and pivoted plane tips n. The parachute also assists in steering the machine. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 3238/71, 28,034/07, 1258/08, 8628/08, 20,433/08, and 753/09.
