Abstract

Candenser systems ; surface condensers ; combined surface and jet condensers.-A centrifugal air-pump, in which the air is entrained by means of water discharged from the impeller of the pump, is operated by water of condensation. The air-pump g withdraws water and air from the condenser by pipes e, f respectively. The air separates in a tank i, and the water is returned to the steam space of the condenser by a pipe k in an amount regulated by a float valve m. The returned water showers over the condenser tubes and aids in the condensation.
