3945. Morison, D. B. Feb. 16. Condenser systems.-Relates to steam-condensing plant in which aerated vapour is withdrawn from a condenser c by a steam jet s discharging to a feed-water heater or receiver r, in which a vacuum is maintained by one or more air-pumps a. The invention consists in admitting a regulated quantity of boiler feedwater through a valve g to the receiver r, the temperature of the vapour being maintained higher in the receiver than in the condenser, and being afterwards reduced in the air-pump suction f by the injection through a valve h of another portion of the feed-water. The feed-water is supplied through a pipe t by a rotary or reciprocating pump b withdrawing water of condensation from the condenser c. The heated water from the receiver is led by a pipe e to the space above the piston of either of the pumps a, b. The vapour discharge pipe f may also be connected to the upper side of the piston of the pump b, or the pump b may be used in tandem with the pump a for discharging air, or air and water. The arrangements of pumps described in Specification 24,192/13 may also be employed. The second portion of boiler feed-water may also be supplied to a second compartment of the receiver or to a second receiver in the pipe f, the water from both receivers being led to the upper side of the piston of the pump b.
