Abstract
11,934. Schilling, J. Aug. 14, 1908, [Convention date]. Aerostats.-In order to prevent access of heat by radiation or conduction to the gaseous contents of an aerostat, an outer covering is provided, and the space between the covering and the gas envelope is filled with an inert gas so that an explosive mixture is not formed if diffusion takes place. The inert gas may be nitrogen, or air deprived by combustion of its oxygen; or it may be the exhaust gases from the motors, the heavier gases having been removed by conducting them through a layer of quicklime. The gases supplied to the other chamber may be allowed to pass out continually at the rear end of the aerostat.
