Abstract

Gas and like engines.-Gas, petroleum, oil-gas, producer-gas, and like engines are rendered more efficient by supplying them with pure or dilute oxygen instead of with air. They may work on an open circuit and discharge the products of com- bustion, or on a closed circuit in which the exhaust is washed in a scrubber and freed from carbonic acid and then re-enriched with oxygen. By the latter system an excess of oxygen is not wasted.
