Abstract

10,528. Schoof, W. May 4. Spray carburettors.-The air- and fuel-valve ports are of the same form, the valves being so connected that the primary air and fuel are controlled simultaneously in the same proportion ; triangular ports are described. The air ports are made sliglitly less in size than that demanded by theory, in order to obtain the correct proportion of fuel. An air valve 24 with ports A slides in the chamber 22, and through a pin 50, slot 52, and stem 28, actuates a fuel valve 29 with a port B<1>, Fig. 2, which controls the passage 42 from a float chamber 4. Air enters at 67, and the mixture leaves at 68, A bracket 38, Fig. 2, carries a thimble 36, in which works the valve 29, kept in position by a screwed plug 34 provided with fuel nozzles 32. The air valve is actuated through a lever 60 and helical gear 64, rotation being prevented by the square stem 63. The fuel supply to the float chamber 4 is controlled by the valve 8 attached to the lever 10, which is pivoted at 11 and actuated by the cork float 13. A plug 20 with a vent 21 allows access to the interior.
