Detachable-rim attachments to wheels; tyre attachments to rims.-The circumferentiallyexpansible detachable rim 3 is made flexible laterally by means of transverse cuts 9, which extend beyond the centre of the rim base. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the rim is secured by adjustable clamping-rings 8, which engage in grooves 7 formed outside the ordinary rim flanges 4. Each ring 8 is adjusted by a worm gear operating eccentric catches 15, which pass through holes 16 in the ends of the ring. In a modification, the detachable rim engages a fixed flange on the binding-tyre and is secured at the opposite edge by an adjustable angle-ring. The clincher rim shown in Fig. 1 may be adapted for use with wired-on tyres by means of rubber fillets fitted in the rim flanges. Fig. 4 shows a rim in which a sheet-metal base 26 receives side plates 29 to support the tyre. For connecting the ends of the divided rim, a plate secured to one end is slotted to engage screws carried by. the other end.
