Abstract

6859. Dawbarn, R. A. March 22. Multiple-delivery piston pumps.-A doubleacting pump, Fig. 2, comprises a piston s working in a barrel having one supply pipe u, two discharge pipes o, o<1> with non-return valves p, p', and two by-pass passages q, r. The pump is used to supply liquid fuel, such as petroleum, and delivers during a portion of its stroke only, the liquid circulating round the by-passes during the remainder of the stroke. Lever and tappet actuated pumps. - This pump is driven through a pivoted rocking lever from the cross-head of a combustion product engine which it supplies. Two single-acting cylinders m<1>, m<2>, Fig. 3, with a common plunger s<1> may be actuated by a tappet mechanism w, x, springs y, y<1> centreing the plunger after each stroke; in place of the tappet x on the rocking lever, a bar forming with the latter a bellcrank may be used to work the pump.
