Abstract

6642. Bloxam, A. G., [Vogel & Noot]. March 19. [Addition to 17,688/08.] Pliers and cutters.-Relates to modifications of the wire-cutting pliers described in the parent Specification, in which one or more of the following provisions are made: (1) stops formed on the operating-handle to limit its motion, (2) a suspension strap, (3) an arrangement of the operating- handle at the back of the tool to be put out of the way when the wire is being engaged by the hornlike extension of the fixed cutting-jaw, and (4) an intermediate lever arranged between the operating- handle and the pivoted cutting-jaw to increase the power, the head in this case being strengthened by a plate of U -shaped cross-section secured over it. Fig. 2 shows the stopping-edges k, m on the handle f, the strap n attached to the bolt o, and a spring g loosely inserted in the other handle d and resting against a plate p in it. Fig. 4 shows a larger tool, for use with both hands, having the handle f projecting through a slot in the handle d to the rear thereof, and Fig. 5 a similar modification, but having in addition an intermediate lever q, and a head-strengthening U-section plate r.
