Treadle mechanism.-In treadle or swinging- pedal driving-mechanism of the kind in which levers 1, 2, fulcrumed at 12 upon the frame, are slotted at 3 to engage the ends of arms connected by one-way clutches to the driving-shaft 15, the mechanism is provided with adjustments whereby the gear may be rendered variable. As shown in Fig. 1, the arms 8, 6 and 9, 7 are made telescopic, the parts 6, 7 carrying the rollers 16 being secured in adjusted positions by set-screws 14. To limit the stroke of the levers a stop 17, pivoted at 20 to the frame, is adjustably secured in position by the insertion of a screw 19 into one of a number of holes 18 in the stop and the frame.
