Abstract
4999. Noack, M. March 1. Embrasure joints.-Consists in making a waterproof-joint between the gun shield and the port in the ship's side by inserting an inflatable tube from the inside of the ship. As shown in Figs. 1 and 3, the packing may consist of a single india-rubber tube 10 with an india-rubber covering 11, and a canvas covering 12. Fig. 6 shows a modification in which the packing for the lower part of the gap is attached to a canvas stip 14 fixed to the shield 1, the packing for the top and sides of the gap being separately inserted.
