Abstract

4746. Huntington, F. D. Feb. 26. Building-blocks.-Relates to concrete columns and girders of the type formed of blocks through which tension bars are passed. The blocks, with or without tongues and grooves, are perforated so that the rods are placed in the zone of maximum stress. Fig. 6 shows a column and girders, of which the rods c project at the junction and are embedded in the filling k, which is in situ. The lower ends of the column rods enter holes in a foundation block. The girder blocks form a flat arch and are provided with grouting-holes h. Other reinforcements may be moulded in the blocks, and may be inserted in the holes h.
