Corsets are constructed so as to give a flat back effect by means of skirt extensions which extend below the corset, and which are connected together, to and over the back of the corset, and to straps attached to stocking-suspenders for applying tension. Tapering straps g, h, Fig. 1, are secured to the fabric body at the back just below the waist line to the upper sewed line of the hip gores f, f<1>, by lines of sewing extending from 2 to 3. Hose supporters i, k are secured to the lower free ends of the straps g, h. Beneath the straps g, h are straps l, m having integral skirt extensions l<1>, m<1> secured to the fabric body by lines of sewing at the top. The straps g, hand l, m are connected together at their lower ends, and also by vertical sewed lines 6. The straps g, h are otherwise free below the sewed lines 2, 3, and the straps l, m are also free below the sewed lines 2, 4. The skirt extensions l<1>, m<1> are provided with buckles 7 and straps 8 for securing them together at the back, these straps overlying guard flaps m<2>. In the modification shown in Fig. 4, either of the hose supporters i, k may be provided with an elastic member k<1>, which is either a separate piece or a loop of the part k and is attached separately to the lower edge of the skirt.
