Abstract

1800. Henleys Telegraph Works Co., W. T., and Nichols, W. H. Jan. 25. Distributing - panels. -Multiple - connexion distributing-panels for u s e in underground boxes and the like consist of a bed-plate D, independent of the box &c., in the form of a ribbed metal c a s t i n g or forging, which serves to support insulated metal pillars F whereby the main conductors B and bus-bars are connected by links J. When used on a threewire system as illustrated, the n e u t r a l conductors N are joined by metal pillars R', R<2> to the neutral bus-bars O which are made in the form of closed hoops. A cranked arm E serves to connect each main conductor to its insulated metal pillar F. T h e s e metal pillars are insulated by split insulators G, G<1> as shown, a sleeve H of micanite or other insulator being introduced as indicated. Compressible insulating washers h allow the nuts e to be drawn up tightly, and the bus-bars M are held by nuts l, such bars being shaped so as to bridge over one another as shown.
