Abstract

936. Munro, J. Jan. 15. Conductors, supports or holders for ; insulation.- Conductors are secured to insulators by placing a bent metal sleeve C round the conductor A at the point adjacent to the insulator B, and by bending a wire E round the neck of the insulator and bringing the ends, which are preferably tapered as shown, along parallel to the sleeve C. Split sleeves Fare then forced over the ends of the sleeve C and wire E, and the ends of the wire E are then bent out so as to lock the sleeves F. The sleeve C may be made in one piece, or may consist of two pieces each with a lug for bending round so as to hold the halves together. If the conductor A is of galvanized iron, the parts of the clip may be made of zinc and galvanized iron, if, however, the conductor is copper, the parts of the clip also are of copper, and in this case a winding of tape impregnated with tar, rubber, &c. may be placed between the linewire and the sheath.
