20,412. Hilton, G. T., and Coppell, F. B. Sept. 29. Pivot adjustmenta.-Cape-cart hoods are kept taut by means of a ratchet device. The front hoop A is provided with an enlargement a<1>, on which are mounted a series of pawls e adapted to engage a ratchet disk f secured to the body by a squared shank f and a wing-nut m. The pawls are stepped to enable adjustment to be made to a fraction of a tooth, and are disengaged, for collapsing the hood, by studs h' carried by a rotatable cap h. These studs engage recesses e in the pawls.
