Abstract

20,041. Grunwald, C. Sept. 26, 1907, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act, 1907]. Gas or e x p l osive-vapour engines. -Tandem cylinder two - stroke - cycle continuous - combustion engines have their pistons and piston - rods arranged as shown, in order to facilitate the adjacent ends of the cylinders being used as the explosion chambers. This arrangement of parts also enables a single cam to actuate both fuel-spraying valves. In Fig. 1 the piston-rods S, S' are shown passing through passages in the cylinder walls, the oil-inlet valves at T, U, and the operating-cam at V<1>. If preferred, the upper cylinder may be double - acting. The engine is suitable for ship propulsion.
