Abstract

17,613. Barth, S. April 16, [date applied for under Section 91 of Patents &c. Act; 1907]. Gas and like engines.-Consists in applying the Klug or the Marshall valve-gear to internal-combustion engines. The Figure shows the Klug gear so applied. The eccentric-rod g, which is guided by a radius-link at about the middle of its length, is connected at its free end to a link a which drives a valve-lever b. The free end of the lever b engages with a cam f on the valve-stem, but alternatively the cam may be carried by the free end of the lever, and the valve-stem may carry a roller, or a plane bearing- surface. The Marshall gear is applied in a similar manner, the link a being connected to the eccentricrod at a point between the sheave and the point of attachment of the radius-link. The Specification in the original form, as open to inspection under Section 91 (3) (a), comprises also modifications in which, instead of providing the free end of the lever b with a cam, this lever is mounted eccentrically at c, and also in which the link a may be connected with the rod g -by means of an eccentric link h in order to increase the force acting upon the valve. This subject-matter does not appear in the Complete Specification as accepted.
