The fan shaft carries a fly-wheel and a driving-pulley. The pulley proper 16 carries pawls 21 engaging teeth on a sleeve 20 loose on the fan shaft 12 but driving the same through friction disks 18, 19 and collars 17, 23, the latter of which is slidable on the shaft and is acted on by a spring 24.
