Movable-abutment type. - Magnetos on internal-combustion engines are driven through a rotary pump of the gear-wheel type, by constructing the pump with gear-wheels so proportioned that, when one is driven from any convenient part of the engine, the other will run at the correct speed for the magneto. As shown, the driving-wheel A in the pump is of twice the diameter of the other C, and the shaft E of the latter is continued through the casing to drive the magneto D.
