Valves and valve-gear ; valves, expansion; stop-gear ; cylinders, heating.-The cylinder is provided with co-axial oscillating distributing and expansion valves a, b, which are operated by eccentrics e, i on the main shaft f. The gear operating the expansion valves is provided with a slotted link j, in which moves a governor-controlled block k connected to the valves. The link j is provided with an enlargement q to diminish the stroke of the pin k and stop the engine should the governor fail. The cylinder is jacketed by the steam as shown in Fig. 2.
