Gas and like engines.-A two-stroke -cycle doubleacting and reversing engine for motor-cars &c. has a pump cylinder a and a working cylinder b arranged side by side, the pistons being connected with cranks, the angle between which, according to the Provisional Specification, may be fifteen degrees or less. The suction valves e, / may be automatic, but the admission and exhaust valves g, h, i, k are operated by mechanism which opens the valves g, h during the last part of each compression stroke, and the valves i, k during the first part of each exhaust stroke. Such mechanism consists of a slotted lever n oscillated by a crank-pin p and engaging at the required times with the pivoted end m of the valve spindle. The time .of ignition is altered at reversing,
