Field carriages.-In a transport vehicle, for carrying dismounted field guns, of the kind described in Specification No. 494, A.D. 1903, the frame B on which is arranged the slide F for the gun barrel J is freely pivoted at a<1> to the forecarriage A, and is provided with a hoisting-gear E for lifting the trail C of the gun carriage. As the trail is lifted, bearings c<3>, c<2> thereon engage respectively and successively with the axle b<3> of the transport vehicle and with supports G, and raise the wheels b<2> off the ground so as to cause the frame B to be supported upon the trail in the correct position for the transfer of the gun barrel, although upon uneven ground.
