Combustion Methods Of Internal-Combustion Engines
(AREA)
Abstract
9170. Fagard, J. April 28. Gas or explosivevapour engines.-In a carburettor, a movable flanged chamber a rests upon a plate b, which is pierced with a central opening d forming the main air inlet, and a number of openings e for supplementary air, the chamber carrying at its upper end a hollow rod t connected with the piston p, which is held down by a spring r and forms a dashpot. The suction of the engine causes a vacuum in the chamber above the piston, either by way of a hollow rod t or through a pipe connecting with the induction pipe. When the chamber a rises, it opens a passage for supplementary air between the flange c and the plate b.
