Spring wheels; tyres, pneumatic &c.-The rigid, continuous or segmental, outer shields of elastic tyres are held to the felloe by bolts k passing through brackets l fixed on or integral with the rim and through side flanges e on the shield, rubber or other springs i placed round the bolts being interposed between the shield and felloe. The shield may have rings g, Fig. 1, bearing on the tyre and supporting rubber rings f, or it may be of the type set out in Specification No. 20,852, A.D. 1906. Or the side flanges may be formed together, as shown in Fig. 3, and a tyre-carrying rim with a single tyre attached thereto ; one side of this supplemental rim may be detachable.
