Abstract

24,754. CrÚon, J. Warnant. Nov. 8. Breech actions, sliding breech-block.-In an automatic rifle, the breechblock 1 is momentarily locked at the time of discharge by a pivoted catch 30, Fig. 2, which, on the trigger being pulled, is swung up into engagement with the breechblock by the hammer 12. The catch 30 is so arranged that the initial pressure due to the recoil is in the direction of the hammer pivot 13. The breech-block return spring 22, Figs. 4 and 5, acts on a sliding rod 21 having cranked end which engages a recess 20 in the side of the breechblock 1. The front end of the rod 21 abuts against a slide 27 for hand operation. To enable the hammer to be cocked by hand; an external lever is fixed to the pivot. A single spring acts between the sear 18 and trigger 15. The searreleasing arm 19 has a projecting nose 34 which, when the trigger is pulled, knocks against the end of the trigger guard and causes the other end to swing up and release the sear. A safety slide 36, acting on the sear-releasing arm, is provided at the rear of the trigger guard.
