Dentrifrices.-An effervescent tablet, described as setting up first an acid and then an alkaline reaction when placed in the mouth, is compounded of 56 per cent of magnesium carbonate, 29 per cent of precipitated chalk, 10 per cent of Orris root, 2 per cent of starch, and 3 per cent of a saturated solution of sodium sulphate in a 30 per cent solution of hydrogen dioxide. A flavouring-extract and a perborate may be added, together with a binding-material such as gum arabic.
