Abstract

18,876. Lehmann, Baron R. A. L., and Durand, L. Aug. 21. Gas or explosive-vapour engines.-The cylinders of an internal-combustion engine are cooled by the air on its way to the vaporizer or by the carburetted air on its way to the cylinders. The openings 16, 17, 18 in the cylinder jacket and vaporizer are so situated that by suitably arranging the connexions 9, 11 the air can either enter at 10, cool the cylinders, and pass through the pipes 11 to the vaporizer 7, and thence to the valve-boxes 6 ; or first enter the carburettor, and pass through the pipes 11 to the cylinder jackets, and thence through the openings 16 to the valve-boxes 6.
