Abstract

Gas supply.-The gassupply pipe e of an oxyacetylene or like burner for welding iron and steel plates is led into a closed tank a connected by a U-shaped tube c to an adjacent open tank b, so that, when a back pressure occurs in the blowpipe connexion d, the water in the tube c and tank a is driven into the tank b and the gas-supply pipe e. If the back pressure is excessive, the mixed oxygen and acetylene &c. escapes through the U- tube c and the tank b. Air is, however, prevented from entering the tank a when an aspirating action of the burner takes place. The apparatus is of general application.
