Abstract

14,317. Thorp, T. June 21. Incandescent gas burners; air supply. -For use in mills and other places where the burner is liable to become choked by dust and foreign matter, the air inlets b of the burner are enclosed in a gauze or finelyperforated chamber c, to which air under pressure is supplied by a pipe e fitted with a cock f. By means of the cock, air in excess of the quantity required by the burner is supplied to the chamber c and, escaping through the gauze, prevents it from becoming choked. The gauze is thus kept clean, so that if the compressed-air supply fails, air can pass through the gauze to supply the burner in the ordinary way. The chamber c is preferably formed with solid ends d and with an internal baffle g.
